We give back to science

That is why we are continuously working with researchers and PhD students on various projects. We provide theĀ tools necessary for innovation and use the current state-of-the-art technologies to keep improving SURUS.

Collaborations

Amsterdam Academic Medical Center (VUmc)

In this four-year PhD project, we are collaborating with Amsterdam UMC to identify possible new treatment options for glioblastoma, a type of brain tumor. Focusing on identifying treatments with optimal effectiveness and minimal side effects, the aim is to reduce the chance of therapy resistance and relapse. This project, titled ā€˜Application of artificial intelligence to predict toxicities of combination therapiesā€™ is granted a TKI-PPP grant.

For this collaboration, we have integrated the SURUS algorithm into Amsterdam UMC data ā€“ such as specific types of literature revolving around glioblastoma, as well as patient records. We are very proud and grateful to be collaborating with Amsterdam UMC, asĀ this project can help brain cancer patients in the Netherlands and beyond and offer better treatment research.

Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS)

SURUSā€™ deep learning models use natural language processing (NLP) techniques known as named entity recognition and semantic dependency parsing. The Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS) supports SURUS by collaborating with us on the scientific validation of our deep learning models.

Artificial intelligence, and specifically natural language processing, is a continuously developing discipline in the current scientific field. We are very happy to collaborate with academia in staying up-to-date with the current state of the art, updating and validating our models as they develop, but also being able to share our new developments with scientists and researchers worldwide.

Evaluation of SURUS

We have evaluated SURUS in collaboration with the Leiden Institute for Advanced Computer Science. The results were presented at the 2021 Dutch meeting on Clinical NLP.

For PhD students

As PhD graduates, we know SURUS can help you in your research process. We offer special discount rates to PhD students who want to use the SURUS Search Engine. We also work with PhD students to do consultancy-based projects for medical and pharmaceutical companies.
